Silicone Oil Migration to the Lateral Rectus Muscle: An Unusual Finding

چکیده
We report a case of silicone oil migration to the lateral rectus muscle discovered during otherwise uncomplicated strabismus surgery in patient with multiple previous vitreoretinal surgical interventions. A 58-year-old female underwent correct long-standing sensory exotropia. This numerous interventions due complex history retinal detachments subsequent repairs, including inserting and removing intraocular as an endotamponade. During this procedure, cysts were firmly adhered within substance muscle. These subsequently removed either by rupture or whole excision, specimens sent for pathological examination. Microscopy confirmed sections fat necrosis areas incorporating oil. Following this, recession medial resection performed, exotropia was satisfactorily corrected. highlights unusual complication unchallenging surgery. Intraocular introduced procedures may present embedded on extraocular muscle, thus presenting unique finding

Ultrasound imaging is not traditionally employed to evaluate eyelid lesions. Nevertheless, this technology permits the delineation of static and dynamic changes and could be useful in evaluating eyelid masses by providing additional information to clinicians for optimal surgical planning, especially in facilities where a computed tomography (CT) scan is not readily available. A 63-year-old woma...

PURPOSE Skeletal and craniofacial muscles are frequently composed of multiple neuromuscular compartments that serve different physiological functions. Evidence of possible regional selectivity in LR intramuscular innervation was sought in a study of the anatomic potential of lateral rectus (LR) muscle compartmentalization. METHODS Whole orbits of two humans and five macaque monkeys were seria...

She had banged the back of her head followed by a brief period of nausea and vomiting which was self-limiting. One year before, the patient underwent surgical repair for retinal detachment of left eye with involvemen...

85 Dear Editor, We report a case of a 69‐year‐old man with right eye conjunctival rhinosporidiosis involving the lateral rectus muscle. The patient presented with a progressive swelling of the temporal conjunctiva of the right eye and intermittent binocular diplopia for four months. There was no history of diminished vision, epiphora, and photophobia. The patient was a swimmer. The best‐correct...
متن کاملLateral rectus muscle disinsertion and reattachment to the lateral orbital wall.
BACKGROUND/AIMS Surgical correction of ocular alignment in patients with third cranial nerve paralysis is challenging, as the unopposed lateral rectus muscle often pulls the eye back to exotropia following surgery. The authors present a simple surgical approach to overcome this difficulty. This approach is also applicable to removal of unwanted overactivity of the lateral rectus in Duane syndro...
